Stone the Crows Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard

The 2011 vintage is a blend of two clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, 337 and 169, as well as 2% Petit Verdot, 14.5% alcohol, and aged 20 months in 80% new Ermitage, Darjanou and Taransaud French oak barrels.

In addition to the 750 ml format, we are offering 1.5 liter magnums, in wood presentation boxes with hand dipped wax capsules.  The 750 ml bottles are available individually or as boxed three packs, tissue wrapped with wax seals.

From its inception in 2005, the Three Twins Vineyard has been a remarkable adventure for our family.  The morning fog that shrouds the rows of vines is burned off by the afternoon sun glistening off Lake Hennessey, providing not only optimal growing conditions, but a continually amazing sensory experience as well.

Somehow, Thomas Brown has been able to capture this environment and seal it in the bottle.  We hope you enjoy the 2011 vintage as much as we have enjoyed producing it.

Winemaker Notes

One of the most aromatic wines I make, the 2011 Stone the Crows is very reminiscent of the 2010 version that we all loved so much.

As I write this note, the room is filled with hints of blackberry, lifted red fruit and crushed rock.  The entry of the wine has a generous amount of upfront red and blue fruit, rounded and virtually seamless.  That initial generosity is quickly surrounded by very fine, but prominent tannin that gives the wine wonderful texture at this early stage.  The best days for this wine are still a few years ahead of it, however a generous amount of airtime will allow for drinking pleasure at any point during its development.
